WTC Memorial Mystery
"Hope Lives"
Part 2
First you will be making four star blocks representing the four planes that left countless victims at the World Trade Center in New York - the Pentagon in Washington D.C. - and Flight 93 taken down over Shanksville Pa.
Assemble blocks as follows:

Using the 2" color B squares, draw a cutting line
corner to corner and a 1/4" sewing line on each
side as shown in diagram at right.

Using eight color B squares and eight color A
squares, place right sides together. Line up
all edges and sew on both sewing lines.

Cut pieces apart diagonally on the center cutting
line. Press seams toward color A. You should have
sixteen half-square triangles as shown at right.

Using sixteen color B squares and the sixteen
color C squares, place right sides together.
Line up all edges and sew on both sewing lines.

Cut pieces apart diagonally on the center cutting
line. Press half the seams toward color B, and
half toward color C. You should have thirty-two
half-square triangles as shown at right.

Using a square-up ruler, trim pieces to measure 1 1/2" square.
