Block 4 of 12

This pattern is worked as a scrap quilt. Each block is done in different fabrics.
However, it is recommended that fabrics in each block go well with previous blocks.
Quilt Top can be done in three sizes as indicated in cutting chart below.
Sizes can be altered by adding borders if you like.
Final assembly directions will be given with block #12.
Dig in that stash or bundle of FQ's and let's get going.
Fabric Suggestion: Each block will use tthree colors.

Color A (background) should be light.
Color B should be medium or contrasting.
Color C should be dark or contrasting.

Cutting Instructions

 #2 color B - cut 1

Using the largest color A and B squares, cut apart on the diagonal and sew together to create HST's.
 

Using a square-up ruler, trim to measure the size listed below.
64" x 80"
 80" x 100"
 96" x 120"
 4 1/2" sqr.
 5 1/2" sqr.
 6 1/2" sqr.


On the wrong side of the smallest squares, draw a center diagonal line from corner to corner.
 


Create a square in a square as follows:
Place one of the marked squares on one corner of a lg. square and sew on the diagonal line. Cut corner off leaving a 1/4" (diagram 1).
Press corner out (diagram 2).
Repeat process on all four corners until you have a square in a square unit (diagram 3).

Repeat the process above to create the required square-in-a-square units as indicated above.

Placing the units in proper position, assemble in rows to create the block as shown in diagram below.


The unfinished size of the block should be as indicated in chart below.

 15 1/2" sqr.
 18 1/2" sqr.
